Disability Allowance Grade Three

The Government supplied me with a permanent grade three disability allowance for MSD, because it considers that it can never be completely cured because of permanent damage to the hippocampus. I am advised medically not to travel too far. However I can travel and drive around. My wife and I went to see my distant cousin at Buckingham Palace and that was a pleasant occasion.They really do serve cucumber sandwiches. The disability allowance is about £900 pounds a year, £250 pounds a year fuel allowance, and a £10 Christmas bonus. My Civil List Pension is £2,400 pounds a year. Let us hope the present Government will not cut this Christmas bonus to £5. That would make Scrouge look like a benefactor of humanity. This is not the way to treat your best scientists, but I have always had to look after myself. Merit is certainly not awarded unless one constructs a system oneself. Then one sees the vast international interest in one’s work and life. One is certainly not a prophet in one’s own back yard, St. Mark was quite right, but I am immensely pleased and proud of the EDCL group and its achievements, and also of course AIAS today. These are achievements in my own back yard. In one sense the EDCL group just transferred and continued to do world class work, for no pay of course. I worked without pay for more than half my life in order to practice science. With a society like this who needs the flood? This means major reform please, not depression.

Clinical Analysis of Single Event Major Severe Depression

Rsearch in this area has identified the part of the brain that causes depression. It is the hypothalamus of the limbic system, the amygdala and hippocampus. These areas control the pituitary gland, and disturbances to this part of the brain can cause major severe depression, a dangerous and often fatal illness. Major severe depression is associated with thyroid disorder, Cushing’s syndrome, and Addison’s disease. The hypothalamus controls cortisol, and major severe depression is accompanied by abnormal cortisol levels. Dexamethasone is a cortisol, and used to treat uveitis. So there may be a link between uveitis and major severe depression. I have suffered from both. Single event major severe depression can be cured instantly by removing the cause of the massive trauma or shock that led to the MSD. So the latter in no way impairs intellectual ability. It slows everything down to a crawl, everything is black, and the patient is often unable to move. Many suffer very badly. The final stages are catatonia, where the patient has to be drip fed. For example if a close relative suddenly disappears without trace, the result can very well be MSD. If the relative returns, the MSD disappears almost instantly. In no way can MSD be confused with paranoid psychosis or delusion, or similar. People who do this publicly, in order to try to attack the patient, are regarded with utter contempt and disgust by the medical profession and by all decent people. Another type of MSD is an illness that has no apparent cause, for example bipolar manic depressive disorder. If an event causes MSD and that event is not removed, MSD can slowly kill the patient by starvation or suicide. The untreated patient dies because he or she cannot move and cannot eat or cannot bear the suffering any longer. As the result of repulsive trolling type attacks on my first wife, I suffered MSD from 1998 to about 2005, when it finally cleared up. My second wife was a great help in clearing it up and I am now fully recovered. My output has always been far higher than the average academic. In February 2005 I was appointed a Civil List Pensioner, something like Order of Merit, and in July 2008 raised to the Gentry, akin to Knighthood, a kind of Peerage without a title, the Gentry are the untitled nobility, on merit. I am also of royal descent, as recently discovered. So in 2012 I was included in the Royal Section of “Burke’s Peerage and Gentry” and from 2003 onwards, with the generous and voluntary help of international colleagues, produced the world acclaimed ECE theory, nominated several times for all the big prizes. So trolls are revolting criminals who can inflict major damage, and can kill people. They can also incite people to street violence. This is often their intention, so they should be imprisoned if caught, and very tough new laws passed against them. It is well known that some depraved people have tried to use the now cured MSD against me in public, but they have dissolved into the gutter whence they came. People like that were also responsible for the wikipedia defamation against me. That has been treated with contempt by the colleagues as the scientometrics show, and the wiki defamation is now out of date by a decade or so. It makes up less than 0.1% of referrals to the ECE sites. Some of these trolls have been identified, and they turned out to be supposedly respectable people. This should surely awaken society to the dangers. Those of us who have survived MSD form a kind of society in which sufferers are helped to recover. Like those who survived the coal mines or trenches. The slogan is: “It gets better.” I did what is thought to be medically impossible and worked all the way through the illness (see Omnia Opera 1999 onwards). In fact ECE was started when I was still very ill, in March 2003. The treatment at the EDCL, Bangor and Swansea recorded in Autobiography Volume Two is without doubt a contributory factor. It consisted of several criminal offences: common assault and false accusation. I was cheated out of everything having been awarded the D .Sc. when only 27, a record for modern times by many years, and one which still stands today. I was forced to compete for post doctoral fellowships and won a world record number in open competition. Others were appointed in smoke filled rooms. My award winning group was destroyed, and I emigrated in 1986 to become a visiting full professor at IBM, and later a Senior Fellow at Cornell and Guest of the University of Zuerich. The trolling attacks resurfaced at UNCC, and I was cheated out of a career there with false accusations. These are criminal offences – they come under the law of perverting the course of justice. My first wife and I went through all that horror, and her loss in 1998 triggered the MSD. She was just as badly damaged. So this is enough to depress an elephant. There is enough injustice to sink a super tanker. Now that I have reached retirement age I am still being subjected to trolling attacks – futile attacks, but ones that must be dealt with to the full extent of the law. Otherwise law and order breaks down as in the last stages of the Roman Empire. Lastly, any creative person is subjected to a massive assault by a materialistic wilderness, modern society, and many creative people suffer from major depression. One example is Winston Churchill (manic depressive disorder), another is Virginia Wolf, another is Abraham Lincoln, another is Ernest Hemingway, another is Vincent van Gogh, and so it goes on. These could not control their illness, but in my case it was single event, caused by a massive trauma, or a series of them, and has now cleared up.

1) Agreed about the typo. The negative sign is used because:

Assuming that the vector B is spacelike, Eq. (12) gives in the Cartesian notation:

5) Agreed. Eq. (9) is the elegant vector format of the Cartan identity derived in UFT254 and UFT255, and it transforms directly into Eq. (12), which is always true. Removal of indices gives the simple vector equation (16), and a new constraint in ECE theory. The latter can be either torsion or curvature based and this is a major new development in ECE theory.

The next stage in Notes for UFT316 is to develop the space part of the JCE identity to give new vector equations, then remove indices, in note 316(6). Then after checking UFT316 can be written up.

Many thanks for going through these notes, and also to Doug.

1) Agreed, Eq. (5) is the covariant unit vector e sub mu in the Cartesian basis, an Eq. (6) in the complex circular basis.
2) Agreed, the relation of W to A is developed in note 316(6). As defined they both have the same units of tesla metres. Eqs. (22) and (24) are some of the first results of the curvature based ECE theory. Eq. (22) looks like MH but this is due to cancellation by removal of the tangent indices. The c indices in the last two terms of Eq. (23) and (24) run from (0) to (3), but they can be removed leading to a Maxwell Heaviside result for the electric field also. The c indices are removed by multiplying by e sub c e sup c = – 2. So we are all three agreed. The result is that the curvature based ECE theory reduces to a generally covariant MH theory in a space with torsion and curvature both non zero. This seems to be an important result.
3) In deriving Eq. (26) I used Eq. (24) with

UFT88 read at Maths., National Tsing Hua University Taiwan

This month, May 2015, the renowned UFT88 by M. W. Evans and H. Eckardt has been read a record 240 times around the world, an annual rate of 3,194 times. It has recently been developed in UFT313 – UFT315, just posted and already being read 1,749 times a year. These already classic papers correct the 1902 second Bianchi identity for torsion. Einsteinian general relativity was based directly on the incorrect 1902 second Bianchi identity almost exactly a hundred years ago in the summer of 1915 at a Goettingen University conference. These papers, 88, 112 and 313 – 315, are technically very difficult, like a late Beethoven piano sonata such as Opus 111, but the interest in them shows without further doubt that the Einsteinain era has been wholly rejected at about the same time as the dogmatists are celebrating the centennial of the Nov. 1915 field equation, boring us all with propaganda. In fact this equation was immediately rejected or criticized by leading thinkers of the time such as Schwarzschild, Bauer, Schroedinger, Levi Civita and many others down the century. Now we know why. UFT88, 112, 255, and 313 – 315 show that torsion must be considered in the second Bianchi identity, which becomes the Jacobi Cartan Evans (JCE) identity of UFT313, developed in UFT314 and UFT315 just posted. Horst, Doug and I are now working on UFT316. The definitive proofs that null torsion leads to the disappearance of gravitation are being read currently at a rate of 3,021 times a year, again a record high. That hardly gives cause for dogmatic celebration, quite the opposite. The dogmatism sounds like a fizzle, a dud firework. National Tsing Hua University was founded in Beijing in 1911 and re founded in Tsingchu in 1956. It is ranked 205 by webometrics and 226 – 250 by THES, so is a world ranking university. It has 12,400 students. It has many cooperative programmes with Tsing Hua University in Beijing. Staff and students from Tsing Hua have studied ECE theory many times over eleven years.

Book of Scientometrics Volume Two Updated to 29/5/15

This is volume two updated to 29/5/15 on the last day of the month as usual. Two more days of feedback are due for May, and the final totals will be calculated as usual. The scientometrics are well known throughout the world and very popular, the first volume has just been published as a softback with New Generation of London (details on the site and blog, including links to Amazon). They indicate complete acceptance of ECE among bona fide professionals and a complete rejection of standard physics: dogma, teaching methods, refereeing and funding systems, the whole lot. This is a bit like van Gogh, Rodin or Stravinky’s “Right of Spring”, which caused a riot when it was first performed in Paris, or the ridiculous suggestion that the earth goes around the sun, or Jackson Pollock’s random paint throwing. All good stuff.

Good to hear from Axel Westrenius in Australia, and best wishes to Mrs. Westrenius for a complete recovery. I have always loathed bureaucracy, as in my sonnet “Rain”, written in 1986 (Barddoniaeth / Collected Poetry to be published shortly by New Generation in London), and in Autobiography Volume Two just published by New Generation. This is what I mean by “having to have gone through a career”. R. S. Thomas was much the same, and he was scythingly and mercilessly critical of the establishment and society. In his natural state he was warm hearted, deeply sympathetic with the human condition, and got along with his Welsh speaking parishioners very well as Vicar of Aberdaron and Rector of Manafon before that. Of course I agree with all that this article has to say, I would go much further and assert that the entire standard model of physics is flawed, a ship with rotten timbers. This article basically accuses the ministry of thought in science of covering up gross errors. This is exactly what they did with UFT225, all to no avail. All of that has been destroyed by AIAS publishing. Some much worse things have happened as we all know, the most depraved and disgusting episode being the e mail assaults on Cartan geometry. These were certainly an attempt to stop me getting a Nobel Prize. I was very close to getting one according to Richard Amoroso. The scientometrics show that those attempts have failed in the most spectacular manner possible and I have called for a Government Inquiry as a Civil List Pensioner and Member of the Gentry.

The bureaucratic science-machine broke science, and people are starting to ask how to fix it

Science is broken. The genius, the creative art of scientific discovery, has been squeezed into a square box, sieved through grant applications, citation indexes, and journal rankings, then whatever was left gets crushed through the press. We tried to capture the spirit of discovery in a bureaucratic formula, but have strangled it instead.

There are no shortcuts to the truth, or to status, and no easy way to figure out which projects should be funded. Every time a decision is crowd sourced — via committee, panel, or “consensus” — the responsibility for thinking gets divided and avoided.

The modern bureaucratic process of science is now not even trying to search for the truth. It’s hunting instead for an impact factor, for attention, for headlines, and inevitably, for funding.

It is good to see people starting to discuss it — including the Lancet Editor, Richard Horton, who wrote in April that he could not name names, but it needed to be said:

“A lot of what is published is incorrect.” I’m not allowed to say who made this remark because we were asked
to observe Chatham House rules. Those who worked for government agencies pleaded that their comments especially remain unquoted…

…[it
is] one of the most sensitive issues in science today: the idea that something has gone fundamentally wrong with one of our greatest human creations.

The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue.
Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts
of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has
taken a turn towards darkness. As one participant put it, “poor methods get results”.

Richard Horton is talking mostly about biomedicine, but the problem is endemic:

Part of the problem is that no-one is incentivised to be right. Instead, scientists are incentivised to be productive and innovative.

More red tape won’t set science free

I don’t think his suggestions are the answer, and even Horton seems to agree with that. A Hippocratic Oath for science, will help, but not much. Similarly, writing regulations to insist on a certain percentage of replicability in grant applications is only tinkering at the edges. As is emphasizing collaboration rather than competition, or insisting on “preregistration of protocols”. Likewise, rewarding “better pre and post publication peer review”, or improving research “training and mentorship”. None of that will make discovering the truth the main game again.

Lets start the list of what we need

What we need (for starters) is better training in logic and reason, and it needs to start in primary school. All kids need to know what an ad hominem argument is, and to spot the weak argument from authority. I shouldn’t need to explain what those are to a science graduate, a science communicator, a science journalist, or a science minister. A professor who can’t reason, shouldn’t be a professor. Actually I shouldn’t need to explain these fallacies even to a 12 year old, because it should be rote learned by 10.

Then we need to fix the incentives. We need to find a way to reward creative genius which breaks assumptions, rather than the sort that just fits in the box. We need to let genius flourish again, instead of bureaucracy.

To fix science we also need to fix science journalism, and science communication. Because these ought be another layer of protection. Good journalists and interviewers shouldn’t let scientists get away with dumb answers. Good science communicators serve the public, not the bureaucratic science-machine. Instead our supposedly best science magazines just report smear by association: see New Scientist: The Age of Name-Calling.

Vox published a longer article on this two weeks ago. Matt Briggs wonders if the Lancet editor was underestimating the problem.

Preparing “Principles of ECE Theory”

Many thanks once more, as long as there is steady progress there is no particular hurry. It is already a very successful book open source and your additional sections (with Douglas Lindstrom and Stephen Crothers) will greatly add to its impact.

316(5): New Vector Equation del A x W = 0 from the Cartan Identity

This is obtained from the simple format (9) of the spacelike part of the Cartan identity first discovered in UFT254 and UFT255. With the new definition of the magnetic flux potential in Eq. (10) a new vector identity is discovered, Eq. (12). The tangent indices are removed as in Note 316(4) to give Eq. (16), a possible solution of which is A parallel to W, so their cross product is zero. Finally Eq. (23) assumes a duality between the magnetic flux vector potential W and the vector potential A, so W becomes the antisymmetric tensorial equivalent of the axial vector A in the tangent space of Cartan geometry. In this case W and A are parallel and equal. If duality is assumed the torsion and recently inferred curvature based ECE theories become equivalent. In general, the new vector identity is Eq. (16), the simplest format of the spacelike part of the Cartan identity. These calculations can now be repeated for the JCE identity.
