Ramsay Fellowships Trust Who’s Who for 2009

January 29, 2010

This is my one page Ramsay Who’s Who entry for 2009. I was a British Ramsay Memorial Fellow form 1976 to 1978 at the Edward Davies Chemical Laboratories in the University College of Wales at Aberystwyth. My supervisor was Professor Mansel Davies. It is a convenient one page summary of my career.

Simple Experiment to Test Theory

January 27, 2010

For a plane wave trajectory (1) of a source electron the force on the test electron is of the type (16), dominated in this case by the orbital electric field.

The Equations for the New Spin Fields

January 27, 2010

There are new spin fields E and B which are c times smaller in magnitude than the usual orbital fields E and B of the textbooks. This note gives worked examples for the Faraday law of induction and the Coulomb law. The basic structure of the theory is simple, and is based on eqs. (1) and (2).

New Types of Spin Connection Resonance

January 27, 2010

These equations give new types of spin connection resonance, giving an internal structure to the four potential of my Civil List predecessor, Oliver Heaviside.

FRS and All That

January 26, 2010

I am often asked why I am not an FRS. The answer is I don’t know, but there is no need for me to be an FRS because the RS has already nominated me for a higher honour than FRS, appointment to the Civil List. Similarly I am asked why am I not a Nobel Laureate. I don’t know, but a national high honour has greater merit than a Nobel Prize, the latter is based on a private bequest. These things are very subjective, but dryly and wrily I note with humour that these question suggest that I should be an FRS and Nobel Laureate. I wouldn’t like to argue with that. I am enjoying my work and very happy at the impact it is making. We are set for a record number of visits again this month to this site. It seems that the Nobel Prize is only for a particular school of thought in physics, while the national honour is more open minded.

Mynydd y Gwair Proposal Thrown Out

January 26, 2010

I am delighted that this proposal has been thrown out by Swansea Council, with a large number of Councillors voting against it. There is a final central planning decision in Cardiff. Let us hope that the Swansea Council and 95% of the electorate will not be ignored. If so an injunction will be sought to stop the development in Court.

The Spin Vector Potential, Spin Electric Field and Spin Magnetic Field

January 22, 2010

The spin vector potential is defined in eq. (4), and is c times smaller than the usual vector potential of electrodynamics, defined in eq. (3). Both types of vector potential are given an internal structure. There exist in this theory new type of spin electric and spin magnetic fields which are c times smaller in magnitude than the usual electric and magnetic fields. The latter are recognized as orbital in type. The new spin fields are governed by new field equations. The internal structures of the vector potentials give rise to many new types of spin connection resonance.

Planning Report Against Mynydd y Gwair Development

January 22, 2010

The attached notice from SOCME shows that the Mynydd y Gwair development has been rejected by planning officers. I urge entire rejection of it by the Swansea Council and others responsible.

Calculation of Velocity and Acceleration

January 21, 2010

This is the analysis of note 144(3) continued for velocity and acceleration, giving a straightforward interpretation of v0 and r0 in terms of energy.
