Visit to Dunefawr (Dynevor)

It was a great pleasure to meet my distant cousin Lynne Joseph and his wife, and also my distant cousin Stuart Davies. Lynne Joseph has produced a magnificently prepared book of genealogy and showed it to us there. We saw the interior of Newton House. Lynne took a photograph of Stuart and myself standing either side of Prince Rhys ap Gruffudd in chain mail, carrying a cleddyf mawr or claymore in Gaelic. Fortunately this was only a statue, but the chain mail is real and very heavy. The book is full of interest and excellently prepared on high quality paper. Dunefawr and Llandeilo were home to Hywel Dda, Tewdwr Mawr and the Princes of Deheubarth. Prince Rhys ap Gruffudd was one of the greatest of Princes, and was instrumental in bringing about a great cultural revival in the Welsh language. This is much needed now.
