I worked out the example

A_x = A_1*exp(%i*(%beta*t-k_z*z));

A_y = – A_1*%i*exp(%i*(%beta*t-k_z*z));

A_z = 0;

by the Maxima program. The resulting 7 equations (with assumed omega_i=const) are:

Obviously is omega_Z = k_Z = 0. Furthermore:

omega_Y = i omega_X

which seems to be right according to eq.(40) of the note.

The first two equations imply

which are both compatible with beta = i omega_0.

Obviously it is not omega_0 = 0 in contrary to the note.
